Virtually all the beautiful Mayan hammocks on the market today are produced from short staple Yucatan grown cotton, which is perfectly adequate to produce a hammock which can, with care, provide years of comfort. The problem with the cording used is that it is easy to break, fades rapidly, and is subject to snagging. The Mercerized cotton cord used in the Tommy Hamaca Classic Mayan Hammock is seven times stronger, far more fade resistant, and is much smoother to the touch. Additionally, the support harness or “arms” of the Tommy Hamaca replace the universally used low quality polypropylene with Dos Elephantes true nylon. This combination of supple strength and weather resistance makes this hammock the epitome of its class. This hammock is so good that the founder of Seaside Hammocks, Tommy Hamaca, put his name on it!
